Unless you are using this course with someone else and they have the Helps & Hints you may want to order the set not just the textbook
Science in the Beginning is the first book in a hands-on, multilevel elementary science series that introduces scientific concepts using history as its guide. Because each lesson is built around an activity or experiment, it is engaging for all K-6 students. In addition, there are three levels of review for each lesson, so the parent/teacher can choose the depth at which each student is expected to grasp the material. The course contains roughly 90 hours of instruction, 35 of which are composed of hands-on activities.
The beginning of history is given in the Bible’s creation account, and this book uses the days of creation as a way of introducing a wide range of scientific concepts including the nature of light, energy conservation, the properties of air and water, introductory botany, our solar system, basic zoology, and some aspects of human anatomy and physiology. As the students learn about these scientific concepts, they are constantly reminded of the Creator who fashioned the marvels they are studying.

"...we've found it really user friendly (even though we've got a spread of ages.)"
"We love it, the kids love it and it is the best program I have seen and used!"
"I currently am using your Science in the Beginning series with my 1st-5th grade children. I also have a 6th grade student using your General Science, and a 10th grade student using your Physics and Advanced Biology. I am so pleased with your Science in the Beginning series. It is thorough, and I believe it thoroughly prepares the student for the junior high and high school level science courses. Thank you for this curriculum. My younger kids love the experiments!"
"I do truly want you to know how much we love your elementary course. I love the experiment every day – the kids look forward to it, and the amount of reading is very appropriate an manageable. "
"My husband and I purchased your Science in the Beginning book at the 2015 IAHE convention, and we have just started using it this year. I wanted to let you know how much we're enjoying it. The experiments are easy to execute, but leave my kids with an understanding of what we're learning. I have two boys who really appreciate hands-on learning, and they get excited when we pull out the science book (even if they groan every single time I tell them something they experience in daily life is science!). So, thank you. We are having a great time learning about light (and it's always a great day when you get to burn holes in things with a magnifying glass!!) and looking forward to the rest of the book."
